here's an article from Today bout him if u haven't read it yet
....This is Taufik... ... through the eyes of those who know him

EVERYONE loves an average-Joe-made-good tale. Well, here's one. .A boy grows up without a father, the youngest of three sons in a single-parent family. He started working when he was 12 years old to help with his family's finances..When he was a boy, he told his mother: "I want to become a businessman, so I can make a lot of money to buy you a condominium.".Alas, that was not to be, for singing was in his blood. After all, his aunt was 1960s Malay singer Maria Bachok. Her former husband was the equally popular singer A Ramlie..Today, he is one of the last two standing in MediaCorp's Singapore Idol. Meet Taufik Batisah..The growing-up years.Taufik, 23, began singing when he was three years old. He gradually became the "loudest person in the house", said his brother Muhidden Batisah, 26.."Back then, it wasn't a Malay or English song, but a Hindi song he picked up from watching a Bollywood film. He sang it exactly (like it sounded on the tape) and we were all shocked," Muhidden told Today when we paid a visit to the Batisah residence at Bukit Batok on Wednesday.."The moment he steps into the house, there's music. I always have to tell him to stop because he'll be at it until 11 or 12 at night.".Taufik's 51-year-old mother, Normainah Bachok, sat beside her eldest son as he talked about his now famous sibling. A cleaner in a condominium in Jurong, she was initially quiet but soon warmed up and talked about the baby of the family in a mixture of Malay and English.."Among my three sons, Taufik was the one I breastfed the longest, until he was about two years old. He's the closest to me. When they were young, it was tough bringing them up. Their father was a Cisco officer and I had to work. My brother-in-law had to take care of the boys.".After his parents' divorce, Taufik took on part-time jobs along with his elder brothers. When he was 12 years old, he worked as a mascot. He became a pizza delivery boy at 17 but gave that up when he got into a road accident.."Most of the time, children from a single-mother family get into trouble or become involved in crime. But so far, we've managed to keep out of trouble," said Muhidden, who's in the shipping logistics line and is expecting his first child. ."Because my dad wasn't there when Taufik needed him most, he doesn't seem to want to get close to him. Even when my dad comes to visit, Taufik would distance himself.".Taufik now.Who really is Taufik? It's hard to tell. To people who know him, he is quiet and talented, a loner and a ladies man, a mischief-maker.."He likes to be alone. He likes to hole up in his room writing lyrics and experimenting with music," said his mother. .According to his brother, Taufik is good at whatever he takes up — from studies to sports to singing.."Everything that Taufik does, he excels at. He managed to get into a polytechnic. He's into extreme sports such as bicycling, motocross and skateboarding. But, we're not jealous of him … we're very close.".Indeed, Taufik is a good student, as his lecturers at Singapore Polytechnic confirm. .During last week's results show, the
